Right now there is a higher demand for homes in suburban areas that allow buyers to spread out and have some personal space where they can safely distance. Many home buyers are looking to live in suburban areas in the shadows of larger cities.

The suburbs of Central Indiana have always offered plenty of great places to settle into and spread out while still being close enough to the big city of Indianapolis. Now that more and more home buyers are wanting to move to the suburbs some areas have seen a higher demand and popularity. The site HomeSnacks.net recently named Carmel and Zionsville as number one and number two on their “Best Indianapolis Suburbs to Live for 2020.”

Here is some more information on both of these highly sought after suburbs.

Carmel

The town of Carmel is frequently on the list of top suburbs to live. Carmel is an affluent area with a population of 90,163. The median income of Carmel is $116,867 and the unemployment rate is a small 2.3%. Carmel is north of Indianapolis and is one of the fastest-growing communities. It has been named as one of the best places to live by major sites including CNN Money, Town and Country Magazine, and Niche.com.

Some refer to Carmel as the “Beverly Hills of the Midwest.” It clearly is the place to live outside of the big city of Indianapolis. Residents enjoy the great schools, abundant parks, local festivals, hometown pride, restaurants, shopping, and performing arts.

Zionsville

Zionsville is located in the farthest southeast corner of Boone County just northwest of Indianapolis. The population is currently around 26,209 and the crime and unemployment rates are low.

Zionsville is a picturesque town that looks something like a movie set with a downtown area paved with brick roads and lined with small local shops, restaurants and a beautiful town hall building sometimes called Castle Hall. Zionsville boasts thriving and active parks and rec department that provide countless community activities for residents and some of the most popular are Fourth of July and the Fall Festival.
