Avon Indiana is a small town of about 18,000 residents just a few miles west of downtown Indianapolis. Named after Avon in England, the town dates back to 1830 it was the first Tree City USA community in Hendricks County and prides itself on natural environment preservation. It’s home to four star schools and has a vibrant music tradition that includes three national championships and 13 state championships for the Avon high school marching band.
It was originally a company town for a new railroad repair facility called the beach Grove Shops constructed by the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad. This complex sits on over 100 acres and Amtrak employs over 500 local residents.
Carmel Indiana is located about 16 miles of downtown Indianapolis. Depending on traffic they can take you anywhere from 20 minutes to 45 minutes from downtown
